Best Breakfast in Galata, Istanbul – Limon Kahvaltı.

Hidden in the quiet historic streets of Galata, just steps from Galata Tower, Limon Kahvaltı is not your average Turkish breakfast spot. It’s an unlimited breakfast experience where every single product on your table has traveled from a different corner of Anatolia — and carries a story worth knowing.

We opened our doors in November 2024, converting an old shop into a 55-seat boutique space. Behind the menu are İnciser and Doğuhan. If you’d like to meet us during your visit, we’d love that.

Where Is Limon Kahvaltı Galata?

We’re located on Tatar Beyi Sokak, a quiet historic street in Galata, Beyoğlu. Finding us is part of the experience — you leave the busy tourist streets behind and walk through Galata’s calm, cobbled alleys until we appear.

As you step inside, look at the handmade lights on the walls and above the bar — epoxy pieces with wheat stalks and everlasting flowers sealed inside. The wheat is a reminder: everything on your table begins with the earth. The everlasting flower is our hope that these stories never fade.

Look closer at the entrance floor and walls — handcrafted mosaic work, stones brought from Portugal, placed one by one. And our bathroom? The sink is actually a giant garden pot. Every corner here is a decision, a detail, a story.

During renovation, we discovered something we didn’t expect: the building rests on 150-year-old stone walls, hidden for decades beneath a newer structure. We left them exposed. There’s even an old iron hook on the wall — once used to tie horses. It’s still there.

Our kitchen has no doors. You can see everything from your table. That’s intentional — because we believe transparency isn’t just a value, it’s a practice.

What’s on the Table — and Why It Matters

The menu was designed with one rule: no shortcuts. Everything you taste has a reason to be there.

🍋 Limontella — Our Signature

You won’t find this anywhere else. Limontella is our house signature lemon spread, served with clotted cream and fresh mint. On its own, it’s one experience. With the cream, it becomes another. With the mint too, something else entirely. Three experiences in one product. Some of our guests call it “the fairground taste” — once you try it, you’ll understand why.

🍋 Lemon Molasses

One of Limon’s experimental signature flavors. Sharp, bold and unlike anything you’ve had at breakfast. Served with strained yogurt and cinnamon — together they balance and soften the intensity into something quietly surprising.

🍋 Special Tomato Paste with Avocado

Sweet pepper paste, village tomato paste, walnuts and avocado — combined into something greater than the sum of its parts. The name says “tomato paste” but the taste says something entirely different. We won’t give you the full recipe. But once you taste it, you’ll ask for more.

🔪 Handmade Sausage from Malatya

This sausage has an extraordinary story. It’s a cloth-cured Turkish beef sausage — naturally fermented, non-processed — made by a small butcher in Arapgir, a tiny market town in Malatya, İnciser’s hometown. He selects and slaughters the animal himself, prepares his own spice blend, and wraps the sausage in fabric rather than casing. No heat treatment. It cures slowly under cold air and stone weights — a method that traces back to Ottoman times.

Production stops between April and November. If the weather isn’t cold enough, the flavor isn’t right — so it simply doesn’t happen. Every slice on your table carries the season and the hand of its maker.

🧀 Cheese Plate

Homemade village cheese from Malatya, aged Kars kashar (Turkish semi-hard cheese), homemade tulum cheese from Elazığ, string cheese, white cheese with grain and dried fruits, and cheese balls. The tulum cheese, kashar and butter come from a master cheesemaker in Elazığ whose father once supplied the same products to İnciser’s family decades ago. We traveled from Istanbul to Elazığ to find him. The original master had passed away — but his son was still making everything the same way.

🥜 Lemon’s Special Pine Nut with Yogurt

Pistachios stuffed in sweet peppers, roasted and mixed with strained yogurt, labneh and mild spice. A combination that surprises every first-timer at the table.

🍞 Breads — Sourdough and Handmade Special Bread

Our handmade special bread (yağlı ekmek) was inspired by a traditional bakery in Arapgir and made exclusively for us in a stone oven in Istanbul — you won’t find this recipe anywhere else. We also serve sourdough from Kastamonu.

🍩 Three Kinds of Fried Dough

Pisi (plain fried dough), Clove and Mastic Gum Fried Dough, and Special Junior Dough with Cheese — a cheese-filled stick-shaped fried dough, crispy on the outside and soft inside. All three, all unlimited.

🥚 Egg with Bread

Classic egg bread — the warm, nostalgic kind that tastes like Sunday mornings at your grandmother’s table.

🧈 Handmade Butter and Smoked Butter

Not regular butter — our own handmade and smoked butter, prepared in our kitchen. Simple on the surface, unmistakable on the palate.

✨ Sahine (Tahini Spread)

A traditional dessert made with honey, tahini and butter — whipped together into a sustaining, warming spread. One of the oldest breakfast foods known to humanity, still as good as ever.

🌴 Kaysava Dessert

An Iranian-style date and walnut dessert made with butter — sugar-free and rich in flavor. Coated in coconut. Traditionally enjoyed with afternoon tea in Iran, reimagined here for your breakfast table.

🥗 Fresh Salad Plate

A plate of sliced tomatoes, green peppers and cucumbers with an olive oil sauce. Fresh and light.

🍳 Fried Egg with Potato or Menemen

Hot dishes served unlimited — fried egg with potato or menemen (Turkish scrambled eggs with tomato and peppers).

🍯 Milk Jam (from Jersey Milk) & Seasonal Jams

Milk jam made from Jersey milk, lemon peel jam, and seasonal fruit jams — all made in our own kitchen.

Our jams, spreads and signature products are made in our own kitchen. Everything else is sourced directly from the makers — each with a journey, a craft, a story. Nothing on this table is accidental.

From Arapgir’s cloth-wrapped sausage to Elazığ’s hand-pressed cheese, from Hatay’s sun-dried pepper paste to Iran’s natural dates — every product on your table carries the story of a place, a craftsperson, a generation. We simply bring them together. 🍋
